SelecTours Travel works with a select few groups of travelers wanting once-in-a-lifetime destination experience.    We enhance that experience by pre-planning everything; and we mean everything!  SelecTours Travel is one of the very few tour operators you can find that is truly “all inclusive.”  We believe the proof is in the details.  Read our rather long brochures – your SelecTours Travel adventure will be chock full of additional features and enhancements.  On a SelecTours Travel trip you will relax and certainly be comfortable; you will eat well.  We’ll educate you and show you a unique view of our destinations.  We capitalize on adventure and special one-of-a-kind experiences which we describe in our brochure and you certainly deserve.

There seem to be thousands of travel opportunities but I want to know if I am traveling with the real operator of the trip?
SelecTours Travel is a travel agency registered with CLIA.  We are also a direct tour operator.   We are owned, operated and staffed by experienced travel professionals.  We use our unique talents to plan exceptional tours.  We then hire the best locally experienced guides, rent the best available transportation equipment, select the safest and best available hotels, plan both elaborate and simple food choices and most of all, the most qualified and interesting step-on guides we can find.  We’re all “inclusive” and by necessity that means we work carefully and over long-periods of time with local destination operators.  We’ve been developing our contacts for many years of operation.  Your experience will be exciting, educational and as creature comfortable as possible given our destination.

What is the average age of guests?
During the planning stages of our tours, the affinity group sets the ages of those allowed on the tour.  We do not take anyone younger than 14 years of age and then only with parents in attendance.  Our experience indicates you could be traveling mostly with retired couples.  We strive to make sure that the individual accepted on the tour will not because of age or impairment slow down the group.

What percentage will be repeated travelers?
Over the years of operation, we have found that after two years of preparing tours for a particular group, the repeat percentage exceeds 50%.

What amount of luggage is important to me, how much is allowed?
Most of our tours are fairly fast paces, so the amount of luggage should be kept at a minimum.  We try not to do a different hotel each night which allows much more flexibility about packing and repacking during the tour. Each tour brochure has a suggested list of things we have found helpful to bring.  More than one suitcase and one carry-on will probably get in your way.

I have special dietary requirements, how easy is it to accommodate?  What about refrigerated medications?
Like Burger King, special orders don’t upset us.  Make your needs known to us and SelecTours Travel will do everything possible to accommodate your dietary, medial, religious or personal requirements.  You will certainly get our best efforts.

Who are the tour escorts?
Our tour escorts are well traveled, well trained, well educated, and well, very experienced interesting people.  Not only will they handle all tour arrangements but they’ll be your primary source of information before the tour and during the tour.  We hope you will agree they make good traveling companions.

Can I use my own travel agent to book a tour?
No, sorry.  Based on our net pricing to keep the price low to you, the tours are not commissionable.  However, in some cases, your travel agent or you personally, can book the air travel to the international point of departure where our inclusive air would take over.

About our tours:

What makes your destinations better than others offered?
Nothing really!  You can find many other tour companies running people in and out of each of our suggested destinations.  But, they don’t do it like we do it.  You won’t find all the extra amenities and creature comfort concerns, you won’t find a true educational perspective, and you certainly won’t find it all-inclusive and you won’t find it at our pricing.  Oh, and have we mentioned that we do not allow tipping?  That’s a feature you will not find with the majority of other tour operations anywhere in the world.   When we say “all-inclusive” we really do mean “ALL-INCLUSIVE.”  That said, when we feel there is a logical opportunity to dine out-on-the-town in some locations, we will say so in the brochure.

Some tours I have been on seemed frantically paced, how would you describe a SelecTours Travel adventure, will I feel like I am being herded?
Not at all.  If you want to cram in as much as you can, just want to check off countries visited, then you need to purchase a different tour.   If you want to see it all, experience it all, and experience it in a unique personal way, you want a Selectours Travel tour.

I want to come as a single, do you find me a roommate so I do not have to pay the extra fee?
There is always a single-supplement price mentioned in the brochure should you want private accommodations; however, if you are traveling alone and do not want to pay private accommodations, we are happy to match you up with a fellow compatible traveler.  We do this by suggesting to both parties they communicate prior to the tour and have both agreed to the arrangement.

Will I feel at ease traveling single?
Yes, of course.

Will there be free time to explore on my own?
Our normal day begins with breakfast and ends with dinner.  At appropriate times and safe locations during the tour day, we have stops where some explore-time is provided for.  After dinner, unless something special is planned, you are on your own (with our tour guides to assist and advise) to explore into the local culture.

Your brochure mentions “Inclusive”, what does that mean?
Inclusive for us means all items mentioned in the brochure are covered by the tour price.  That includes our no-tipping policy.  Vendors we encounter and our tour guides have already been fairly compensated for their services.

Hidden Costs?
We like to think there are no hidden costs.  The tours are designed with the thought that no passenger has to go into his pocket for anything except personal items.  Of course, when out on their own and not with the tour group, or purchasing items of a personal nature is not covered.

What is not included?
Air transportation to and from the tour start point, personal items, meals or liquor away from the main tour group and items not specifically mentioned as being included by the individual tour brochure are not included.

Smoking or no smoking?
Smokers will be asked to congregate in a specific location for smoking.  All transportation vehicles and lectured tours or meals are strictly NON-SMOKING!

How many quests to a group tour?
The number on a tour differs by destination.  By looking at the Calendar page of this website, you will notice a number showing the number allowed on each tour and how many have already secured a booking.

What clothing do I need?
Items determined to be needed on a particular tour are listed at the end of each tour brochure.

I am in pretty good shape, but I want to know how physically strenuous a tour will be?
No tour is so strenuous that the average person will feel they have a problem keeping up.  The best answer to that question is to call our office and chat with the tour guide who has been on the trip before.  In some itineraries, you will notice that there are two optional alternative excursions.  These are included to give you an option of something a little more strenuous or something a little less strenuous.


When you book:

Do I need a passport?
Destinations in the US do not require a passport.   All destinations outside the US DO require a passport and sometimes a special visa.

How do payments work?
SelecTours Travel accepts credit cards for the deposit.  After you book, you will receive a letter from SelecTours Travel acknowledging your deposit and giving you more tour details.  The final payment must in the form of a personal or cashiers check usually 80 to 60 days prior to departure.  Details of payment amounts can be found in the tour brochure.

Do I need trip insurance?
Quality medical and travel insurance is required and may be included in the price of the tour. Please check the individual tour brochure for this insurance information.
