European River Cruise

If one would like to know what it looks like while passing through Austria while on the Danube River, you only have to get a copy of the movie, The Sound of Music. The time of year, the portion of the river and even the small town used as the set for the abbey will remind us over and over of just how must we loved this setting in the movie. Our crew aboard the Emerald Sun may even get together a chorus of Do-Re-Me just to get us into the mood of the area.  And, yes there are three other countries we will pass through as we motor up river but all of the scenery in these parts of the world are spectacular especially in the Spring…and that’s why we are doing this tour in the Spring.

Now about the tours. There is more than one option every day of our cruise with some just scenic, others more informative with 1000’s of years of history, and others, like this astronomical clock, that are just going to have to be explained to me (in detail).

Our Star-Ship, the Emerald Sun, is slightly differently laid out from other Star-Ships our groups have taken but it no less beautifully appointed, has an English speaking very accommodating crew, and probably commanded with some of the most experienced river-boat captains along the Danube River.

If you have never been on an Emerald Star-Ship, you are in for an exceptional treat. Not only is the food more than one or two steps above the best restaurants in Texas, in some cases, the meals are very close to a Michelin One Star rating. The real challenge for those of us again boarding a Star-Ship is how are we possibly going to be able to try all the selections laid out for the breakfast or lunch buffets?  We suspect you will find that challenging also.
